Ver 0.3.0 — Monks, Templars, and Prestige

Hello everyone! It has been quite a long while since my last update, and for good reason, I swear! OwO

I have been hard at work trying to figure out a satisfying way to design the monk so that it doesn't feel overloaded and underwhelming at the same time. With this patch, I present the new and improved—in my opinion, though, slight bias there—Monk! It now features Minor and Major Chakras, which are somewhat reminiscent of the Warlock's Eldritch Invocations. This allows Monks to have the versatility they're known for without being restricted to a select few good Ki features, and not being able to use the grand majority of their features simply because it doesn't match the type of monk that the player wants to play. I also increased the monk's initial ki supply, whilst lowering their ki progression so as to maintain the 20 ki points by 20th level; this change allows monks to use their features in the early game without the existential dread of not being able to use any of your features until the next short rest.

Alongside that, there are many cool ideas within caster classes that would suit a martial theme. While the Cleric has their Paladin counterpart, I really want to play off of the pure martial chosen one archetype. Thus I created the Templar class, a strength-based class that borrows the identity of certain full casters. First up is the Heretic, a subclass which borrows from the Warlock's Pact Boons and Eldritch Invocations by allowing the option between stacking different pact boons (that have been slightly altered to suit the martial design) or improving the pact boons they have gotten at earlier levels. Then the Inquisitor borrows from the Cleric's Channel Divinity, gaining more uses of Channel Divinity overall to make up for the lack of spellcasting, as well as an exclusive Channel Divinity that allows you to summon an angelic servant of your deity. Finally, the Sword Saint of the Seven borrows from one of my own homebrew classes, the Cosmomancer's Planar Shift, by allowing the templar to switch between different stances to gain specific buffs.

Finally came the incorporation of Prestige Class. You probably know of them from previous editions of DnD, and from the Unearthed Arcana Rune Mage. Although WotC seems to have dropped the idea of 5e prestige classes, I was too intrigued by the concept and flavour. Thus, I did two classes to begin with.

First, I turned the Battle Master into a prestige class, separating it from the Fighter class entirely. This allows other Fighter subclasses stand a chance when it comes time to hit level 3, and opens up the option of being a versatile martial to other classes as well.

Next, I created the Pactmaker prestige class, with the idea of being on the other side of a pact. Using the Infernal Contracts section of Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus as a basis, I was able to create a flavourful player option that details and allows for the creation of contracts with the tables turned the other way for once!

That is all for today! Expect more prestige classes in the patches to come, and thank you all again for the continued support! :D
