Now that that's out of the way, welcome to Hera's Hall of Champions! My name is Hera, and this is a little project I had gotten inspired to start after finding Epic the Musical by Jorge Rivera-Herrans on YouTube. I've always had a love for greek mythology, but I never thought to bring it into DnD until now.
Here is a little sneak peek of the project thus far, presenting character race options as demigods of the Chthonian deities, and new features and subclasses for the artisan and the barbarian. A couple things to note that may seem strange:
- I use the term "artisan" as the more commonly known term for an inventor of magical items is actually copyrighted.
- I have chosen to rename "barbarian" to "berserker", because the word "barbarian" means something different in the Greek context.
- I have removed the Paladin and Cleric classes entirely, so that the Channel Divinity features may be used for demigods. I also removed the Warlock class for reasons in the next bullet point.
- The new Challenger class will be a reworked version of the Paladin class, while the new Oracle class will be a reworked blend between the Cleric class and the Warlock class.
- I am reworking the Monk entirely to make it (a) a fun class to play, (b) a customizable class that encourages varied builds, and (c) less MAD.
- There is also a new Warlord class, hoping to truly fulfill the martial support niche.
- If you read the table of contents, you will find a lot of the subclasses are similar to my Expanded Classes project. That project is actually an early alpha testing in preparation for this one.
- I am removing Extra Attack from classes, and instead making them scale by global character level just like cantrips. Classes that have Extra Attack will instead gain a replacement feature. The replacement features for martial classes are designed with the goal of granting out of combat utility. I hope that this change will help reduce the martial-caster gap.
